Head winemaker, Alecia Boshoff grew up on a family farm in Swartland, harvesting Old Hermitage and Steen bush vine grapes from as early as she can remember. After working around the world, the soil of Swartland called her home. Alecia met Gisele, a kindred spirit entrepreneur and together they built their dream business of a small winery, creating extraordinary wines.

The Dewaldt Heyns label started in 2006 when Dewaldt made the first Shiraz under his own name, sourced from grapes his father planted. It has been Dewaldt’s lifelong dream to make wine from the same grapes among which he played as a barefoot child. Nestling at the foot of majestic granite mountains, the slopes vary in height from 200 to 350 meters above sea level. The vineyards that bear the fruit of Idiom are called “Da Capo” which means “from the beginning” or “from the Cape” in Italian, a reference to the fact that the vineyards were carefully laid out and planted on the farm for the first time in 1999.
